What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine most commonly refers to the use of technology like videoconferencing for medical diagnosis and patient care. Telemedicine technology can also be used for education and training. Videoconfererencing provides the means to connect individuals located in different geographical places together at the same time no matter where they are located in
the world. Videoconferencing system facilitate transmission of video,voice and data at the same time.
The goals of the North Network are to:
1.Improve access to specialty care for the patients who live in communities where
specialists are not available.
2.Reduce costs associated with long distance travel.
3.Reduce professional isolation by providing remote physicians with supportive network
for diagnostic,investigate and patient management decisions.
4.Increase access to professional health education.
5.Develop skilled health care professionals who can contribute to their community's health
care goals.
6.Provide an opportunity for family members and remote health care providers to be
present during the consultation.
7.Evaluate the program to onitor and improve services.
